AFRICA | AMERICAN STORIES: IDENTITY AND DREAMS

Personal History

I come from my mom
(while she was in a bed at Huntington Hospital).
I come from my dad
who has fearful eyes.
I come from four great brothers
that are good athletes.
I come from a strong lady
that came from a lady too.
I come from a family
that if they were naked
they would realize it.
I come from a family
that was born in the south
like Mississippi
and Florida.
I come from a strong family
that won't put down a fight.
I come from a sometimes windy city.
I come from the United States of America.
