AFRICA | AMERICAN STORIES: IDENTITY AND DREAMS

Personal History

Within me
is the blood of Native Americans.
I don't eat special foods
except for hot dogs.
My family and I have spoken English
for a long time.
I come from a place
that is wet and has a lot of trees.
This place is called the Black Foot River.
My skin and height come from my dad.
Within me
is a family that wears colorful clothing.
My family listens to
old-fashioned classical music.
I come from a family
that believes in anything and everything.
I come from a family
that believes in their dreams.
