Weaver's Craft
Baskets
It would be impossible to cover the infinite variety of patterns which can be found in African basketry. The baskets furnish striking illustrations of African weaver's inventive genius, fertility of resource, and mastery of creative effects.

The African's great love of texture can be seen in the use of materials such as grass, woven fibers and wood. The materials are incorporated in horizontal or ascending spiral patterns. Colorful baskets are produced by using imported synthetic dyes. The baskets are skillfully made, refined, and aesthetically pleasing.
