Santa Monica Mountains May 30-31, 2008 Noon to Noon A BioBlitz is a 24-hour event in which teams of scientists, students, and community members find and identify as many local species as possible. BioBlitz events help scientists learn if biodiversity is increasing or decreasing within a given area. This year's BioBlitz in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is presented and sponsored by National Geographic and the National Park Service in Collaboration with Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy and California State Parks. Join Natural History Museum curators, scientists and volunteers on this exciting adventure to find and identify the species that live in the park. Try field collection techniques and learn what life as a field biologist is like. Enjoy music and food and even go on a naturalist-led hike with your family.
