A LICK AND A PROMISE

| All cats clean themselves often with their rough tongues. This serves several functions: It removes loose hair and parasites, such as fleas; it helps keep the cat's coat waterproof by stimulating skin secretions at the root of the hairs; and the cat's body is cooled when the saliva evaporates. |
