CATS! WILD TO MILD | CONSERVATION

THE ENDANGERED TIGER

Tigers are among the most endangered of the cats. Fewer than 5,000 probably exist in the wild, and all are threatened by hunting and a lack of habitat with suitable prey. Three of the eight subspecies have disappeared over the past sixty years, and a fourth, the South China tiger, is down to twenty animals. Recently, the future of the Siberian tiger has brightened a bit because of stronger anti-poaching squads, better law enforcement, and preservation of more habitat. Much of this increased effort was made possible by donations from individuals like you.
