Support for teacher resources is provided by Hitachi SCRCAC.

Eastern Fox Squirrel

Sciurus niger

Native to the eastern United States, this tree squirrel is commonly seen scurrying across parks and suburban neighborhoods throughout California. There have been multiple introductions in the state, including one in West Los Angeles about 100 years ago.  As a result of the West L.A. introduction, Eastern fox squirrels are now found in most suburban neighborhoods of Los Angeles County—and they are spreading into nearby counties!

Western Gray Squirrel

Sciurus griseus

Taxidermied specimens available for loan from the Members' Loan Service.
