Visiting to the Discovery Center and Insect Zoo
If you wish to visit the Discovery Center and Insect Zoo, an appointment must be made through the School Visits Office.

In the Discovery Center and Insect Zoo, groups will be combined for a maximum of 80 students per hour. One adult chaperone is required for every ten students. We encourage you to bring one adult for every five students.

During the 50-minute appointment to the Discovery Center and Insect Zoo, your class will have time to explore each gallery after a brief staff-led orientation. Teachers are encouraged to visit in advance to prepare for a more focused use of the galleries and are admitted to the museum free of charge with their School ID.

At the beginning of the 50-minute visit in the Discovery Center, staff will offer a 5-10 minute orientation. Afterwards, students can explore the artifacts, specimens, and exhibit materials, with the supervision of their teachers and chaperones. Teachers are encouraged to visit in advance to investigate the resources available. Teachers are welcome to the museum free of charge with their School ID.

A guided tour of the Insect Zoo is conducted by trained volunteer docents.
