Dogs: Wolf, Myth, Hero & Friend

Today, we know dogs as pets so loved by people that they are considered “one of the family,” or “man’s best friend.” But it was only after millennia of selective breeding and domestication that dogs became the pets that are so popular today. Dogs actually come in a variety of types, both domesticated and wild, including wolves, coyotes, and foxes. The Dogs Teaching Trunk is full of information, legends, and stories about both tame and wild canines. There are also activity packs that teach students how to identify particular qualities of dogs such as tracks and body language, how to take care of a dog at home, what the importance of guide, or seeing-eye, dogs is, and other pertinent issues.
