Loan Programs: 
Borrow artifacts and specimens from the Museum!
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County has been loaning natural history objects to Los Angeles educators, schools, and residents for over 79 years. Currently, the Museum hosts two loan programs, the Classroom Collections (annual institutional loan) and the Members’ Loan Service (for individual educators, artists, or anyone interested!).  Sonic Scenery
With the theme Sonic Scenery, students learn from professional artists how to use sound and music as materials for art that echoes and amplifies their responses to exhibitions at the Natural History Museum. To create their soundtracks, the students dipped into an analog and digital palette that includes human speech, sound effects, TV, radio, movies, and recorded & composed music.
Evolutionary Theory vs Intelligent Design:
A Forum for Discussion

The topic of whether or not 'intelligent design' should be taught in science classrooms as a viable alternative to evolutionary theory has
received a great deal of attention in the media. School Boards are
confronted with making decisions on this important issue, and teachers and
students need to discuss their options for how science is to be presented
in the classroom. The Natural History Museum provides this opportunity to
openly discuss this issue on our Evolutionary Theory vs Intelligent Design message board. We encourage students, teachers, and others interested in this topic to engage in constructive discussions with our Education and
