About Conversations
Conversations n. informal talk between people, chat, dialogue
Conversations is an exhibition of artworks featuring objects and specimens from the collections of the Natural History Museum as they have never before been seen.
Six visual artists from the Los Angeles area were invited behind-the-scenes with our curators to explore our huge storehouse of more than 33 million items. Prompted by conversations with the curators and their own inspiration, the artists made selections from the collections and created six different installations.
In addition, five of the artists produced original silkscreen prints in collaboration with Self Help Graphics & Art of Los Angeles. These limited edition prints are currently available for purchase.
Conversations will be on view at the Museum until June 19, 2005. To plan your visit, see the Museum's hours and directions. The exhibit will be punctuated by First Fridays events related to the exhibit in February, March, and April.
We invite you to join us in this exceptional, ongoing conversation to discover wonderful new meanings and insights from our collections.
