Mesocyon coryphaeus, 29-21 million years old, western North America.  This splendidly preserved dog is first discovered in the John Day Formation of central Oregon.  It is derived from Hesperocyon and in turn gave rise a group of archaic bone crushing dog called Enhydrocyon.  This animal is the size of a coyote (scale bar is 20 mm).
