During this trip it was our hope to find specimens of several new species of opisthobranchs, especially dorid nudibranchs. We did find one new species of dorid nudibranch on this trip. It appears that it is a member of the genus Taringa, and may be the same as specimens we have found from Baja California, Mexico.

We also found additional specimens of a new species that we described since the field work was completed. It is a new species of Hoplodoris, one that we named Hoplodors bramalae. We also found specimens of a small aeolid nudibranch that appears to be Noumeaella rehderi. This species is an Indo-Pacific species and has not been found east of Hawaii before. It is rare to find species from the Indo-Pacific tropical region in the waters of Costa Rica and this represents an important discovery from a biogeographical perspective of what species occur where.

A total of 50 different species of nudibranchs were documented during our 10-day field trip.
