Fall 2006
September 29-October 1 2006

This was one of our more productive trips in recent years. The highlight of the trip was the the discovery of a well preserved lower jaw of the bone-crushing dog Epicyon by Bridgette Van den Berg. We also collected a nearly complete Shovel-tusked elephant (Gomphotheriidae) upper tusk that was discovered on our trip last fall (November 4 - 6 2005). This specimen is currently being prepared (cleaned) in the Vertetebrate Paleontology Preparation Lab at the musuem. Click here to check on its progress.
