Expedition: Vietnam A Herpetologist's Story A Herpetologist's Story - A snake on a leaf

In the field... with a Herpetologist!

Dr. Kizirian's goal for the expedition was to collect samples of the diverse reptile and amphibian life from Vietnam -- many of which could be brand new discoveries. Understanding the biology of amphibians and the different areas each species lives tells us a great deal about ecology and the health of an ecosystem. It's important to gather this data before areas are destroyed through logging so these forests and the life they support can be protected.

Dr. Kizirian sorts through his equipment to identify what he will need to take into the field the next day. When you have to carry your equipment yourself, it encourages you to take only what you need.
