ART & SOL

FRIDAY, FEB 4, 2005 at 7:00 PM

A night of art, music, and spoken word celebrating the friendship between Self Help Graphics & Art and the Natural History Museum.
......................................................................................................................

Art & Sol is dedicated to the collaboration between Self Help Graphics & Art and the Natural History Museum in the creation of five original and editioned silkscreen prints. These works of art were designed by artists in the Natural History Museum's upcoming Conversations exhibit, and transformed into prints by Self Help Graphics & Art. The prints will be on display in our ground floor gallery and feature the work of Conversations artists Paul McCarthy, Kim Abeles, Lita Albuquerque, Ed Moses, and John Valadez.

Art & Sol will also explore Self Help's rich history and reveal secrets of the printmaking process. The event is hosted by Tomás Benitez (Executive Director, Self Help Graphics & Art), and will feature:

» Musical performances by Very Be Careful, DomingoSiete, and Lysa Flores
» Día De Los Muertos video and presentation by Teatro Tatalejos
» Spoken word by Marisol L. Torres of Teatro ChUSMA, poetry group In Lak Ech, and Cynthia Alessandra Briano
» Flashes on past stories with Leo Limón, Barbara Carrasco, and Harry Gamboa Jr.

Additionally, the Museum is excited to be able to offer the print portfolio for sale to our visitors. The first opportunity for purchase will be the night of the event.

Food and drink concessions by Wolfgang Puck Catering & Events will be available.
