Join us for an evening dedicated to the Natural History Museum's latest local/global experiment: a bold new Conversations exhibit at the Naturalis museum in the Netherlands city of Leiden. Find out how the Natural History Museum brought together Los Angeles artists with Naturalis curators for this new and unique kind of collaborative exhibit. Conversations artists Ed Moses, Michael C. McMillen, and John Outterbridge will be joined by Naturalis Director of Public Engagement Dirk Houtgraaf and moderator Hope Tschopik Schneider. Behind the scenes footage and Jon Hassell's Magic Place (Naturalis) will be included.
Then, take a journey to the Fourth World as Jon Hassell and Peter Freeman transform the Museum's exquisite 1913 rotunda with a rare electronic performance of Hassell's legendary sonic sculpture, Solid State.
This is the final First Friday of the season and an opportunity to interact with some of Los Angeles' top artists (Not to mention your last chance to explore Sonic Scenery or The Mysterious Bog People after hours!).
Special thanks to the Consulate General of the Netherlands, Los Angeles and New York for their financial support.
