EXAMINING HUMAN EVIDENCE

The Mysterious Bog People

To celebrate the opening of The Mysterious Bog People, First Fridays will hold a panel discussion about what we can learn from examining human evidence and what we do with this knowledge. Our all-star panel includes:

  • Dr. Judy Suchey is a Forensic Anthropologist at the L.A. Coroner's office. With over 35 years in the field Dr. Suchey has seen it all. Her experience makes her a highly regarded consultant for criminal cases and has led her to develop new techniques now widely used in forensic anthropology.
  • Dr. Antonio Gilman is the chair of the Department of Anthropology at California State University, Northridge. His 30+ years of Anthrop expertise will provide insight to the cultural lives of the bog people.
  • Dr. Diane C. Perlov is Senior Vice President for Exhibits at the California Science Center. Having recently hosted the popular Body Worlds exhibition, Dr. Perlov knows first hand the issues surrounding the display of human specimens.
  • As always, our First Fridays moderator will be Hope Tschopik Schneider.
  • Dublab DJs Derelict, frosty, and Morpho will enliven the Grand Foyer throughout the evening. In addition, Sonic Scenery will be available for rental and the LA Coroner's Skeletons in The Closet store will provide an assortment of "distinctive" merchandise for sale.
