Jazz L.A. is an exploration of jazz as it has developed in Los Angeles. More than a dozen of L.A.'s master jazz musicians perform the sounds of the swing era, the heyday of Central Avenue, the bop revolution, R&B, and the soulful 60s. Between songs, these legends of Los Angeles jazz will tell stories culled from a lifetime in music. The evening is hosted by actor Wren Brown, the grandson of drummer Lee Young and great nephew of tenor saxophonist Lester Young.
Featuring:
» Buddy Collette Sextet: Sam Most, woodwinds John Stephens, woodwinds John Pisano, guitar Llew Matthews, piano Richard Simon, bass Harold Mason, drums with special guests: › George Bohanon, trombone › Bennie Maupin, woodwinds
