JAZZ L.A.

FRIDAY, DEC 3, 2004 at 8:00 PM

Trace the roots of Los Angeles jazz from the roaring 20s to the present. Begin your journey with a tour of L.A: light / motion / dreams, the Natural History Museum's latest offering.
......................................................................................................................

Jazz L.A. is an exploration of jazz as it has developed in Los Angeles. More than a dozen of L.A.'s master jazz musicians perform the sounds of the swing era, the heyday of Central Avenue, the bop revolution, R&B, and the soulful 60s. Between songs, these legends of Los Angeles jazz will tell stories culled from a lifetime in music. The evening is hosted by actor Wren Brown, the grandson of drummer Lee Young and great nephew of tenor saxophonist Lester Young.

Featuring:

» Buddy Collette Sextet:
   Sam Most, woodwinds
   John Stephens, woodwinds
   John Pisano, guitar
   Llew Matthews, piano
