Night Conversations invites poets, visual artists, curators, musicians, and the audience to engage in dialogue inspired by the Conversations exhibit. Science and art meld for a lively discussion about the interaction of the two disciplines and the quest to define meaning and sense.
Night Conversations participants include:
» Host: John Gordon, Provist of Otis College of Art + Design
» Artists: Kim Abeles, Lita Albequerque, John Valadez
» Museum Curators: Ángel Valdés, W. Warner Wood, George Davis
» Beyond Baroque Poets: Sesshu Foster, Doraine Poretz, Philomene Long Thomas
» Music Designer: Tom Nixon
» Live Music Improvised by: Enzo Fina, Catherine Alexander, Tom Nixon
» Night Conversations Event Organizer: Rosanna Albertini
Just as the Conversations exhibit brought together artists and curators to expound upon the Museum's collections, the Natural History Museum has prepared an evening of music featuring 2 piece bands whose output explores new sonic territory:
» The Unicorns are Th' Corn Gangg – 2 members of indie oddity The Unicorns bring their bizarro world to hip hop with the debut performance of Th' Corn Gangg. Emcee expectations will be sidestepped by Los Angeles underground favorites Subtitle and No Can Do.
PLUS, early in the evening Th' Corn Gangg will reveal their myriad of musical influences with a special DJ set.
» DDM – Dance Disaster Movement brings all of the above to their furious live performances as feedback, flailing limbs, and pounding drums snowball from the stage.
» El Ten Eleven – This pair of ethereal rockers sound more like an ambient orchestra than a drum and bass guitar duo.
» DJ Kid Millionaire – From rock to punk to hip hop and back again, Steve Aoki never fails to give the people what they want.
» plus visuals by video DJs Mekanix.
Additionally, the Museum is excited to be able to offer the Conversations print portfolio for sale to our visitors.
Drink concessions by Wolfgang Puck Catering & Events will be available.
