To commemorate the closing of L.A: light / motion / dreams, the Natural History Museum presents L.A. Remixed, a late night event featuring the first ever remix of a major museum exhibition. Los Angeles artists take the videos in L.A: light / motion / dreams as source material for new compositions to be played in the exhibit throughout the night. Meanwhile, the nearby diorama halls become venues for musicians and DJs specializing in the soul of the circuit board: the organic and electronic music that permeates Los Angeles. Video DJs will add to the mix by cutting live in the exhibit and alongside the musicians. Featuring:
» Breakestra - Breakestra bring the mix full circle with an eight piece band performing modern renditions of the classic funk jams rediscovered by hip hop sampling. Be prepared to move something.
» Dublab Sound System - L.A.'s most distinguished Internet radio station and DJ collective have concocted an impossible potion of all-star DJs and special guests: live set by SA-RA Creative Partners; DJ tag team with Kutma and Nobody; and an unprecedented DJ mega tag team with Daedelus, Frosty, Farmer Dave, Carlos Nino and more.
» Languis - Languis perform a live set consisting of songs from their latest record, "The Four Walls", as well as new songs that have never been presented before. This performance will feature the debut of their new line-up.
» David J - David J is a founding member of Bauhaus and Love and Rockets, and a resident DJ at Downtown L.A.'s Standard Hotel. For this special night, he will be assisted by his seventeen year old son, Joe, in the creation of an ambient soundscape reflecting the theme of the wild interfacing with the urban.
» Project Sandro - Project Sandro is the force majeure created when Tony Watson and Rollmottle collaborate in the studio or in the DJ booth. Their combined energy produces monumentally huge California-infused music packed with stacks of warm synthesizers and driving beats.
» Reid Speed - Reid Speed undeniably brings the danger to the dancefloor. Her diverse style is unmatched as her selection ranges from all genres of drum & bass to nu-skool breaks, 2 step, 4/4 garage, dark house, and mash up. Sometimes all in one set.
» Video DJ extravaganza by Mekanix, MC This, and Todd Sali (creator of the original videos in L.A: light / motion / dreams)
» Video artists Takeshi Murata, Alex Lorge, Fil Ruting, and Aaron Arendt
For those that have already experienced L.A: light / motion / dreams, you know this will be a night to remember. For those that haven't, this is your chance to see it as it never was. Don't say we didn't warn you!
Even Wolfgang Puck will be in on the mix with unusual combinations of distinctly Los Angeles foods and a cash bar. L.A: light / motion / dreams will be open all night.
