Where do I put my orchids? This shot gives some idea of plant placement. Areas marked with an "a" are great for Phalaenopsis, bright indirect light all day, no direct sun. Areas marked with a "b" get direct sun in the early morning or late afternoon. These areas are good for Cattleyas, Phal type Dendrobiums, and Oncidium Sharry Baby. Area "c" is intermediate and gets bright indirect sun all day (as shown). It is good for medium light plants such as Oncidium Gower Ramsey and Sweet Sugar, Oncidium intergenerics such as Colmanara Wildcat, Encyclia alata, and many others.
The table would be perfect for high light plants. It gets late morning sun from the south window, and similar afternoon sun from the west window. The shelf on the south window is good for cacti, Vanda and Nobile type Dendrobiums. It is maximal for Cattleya, and stunts my reed stem Epidendrums. It gets direct sun from early morning until mid-day.
