EXHIBITS TECHNICIAN TEMPS

The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County seeks Exhibits Technician Temps on an ongoing basis to assist in the loading / unloading, installation / deinstallation, construction and object handling of Museum exhibitions. Technician Temps will also work closely with the Museum Professionals (this includes but is not limited to, Exhibits Managers, Designers, Technicians, Curators, Collection Managers and Operations Staff) to ensure that all work is executed in a safe, proper and timely manner.

Candidates should have completed at least one year of coursework in art, design, or crafts field in an accredited college or recognized art or trade school or equivalent work experience. Successful candidates will have at least two years of experience in the preparation of Museum exhibitions with a basic understanding of carpentry, metalwork and shop skills. Proficiency in the safe use of carpentry and shop tools and other mechanical equipment is extremely important and in-house training and certification will be provided. This position requires an extremely physical work routine with extended periods of standing, stooping, walking, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, object handling, and tool and machine use.

Salary is commensurate with experience. This is a temporary non-exempt, overtime eligible position.
