Megalosaurids

MegalosaurusMegalosaurids belong to the family Megalosauridae, a group of carnivores that lived from the Early Jurassic to Late Cretaceous periods. Around 20-30ft in length, megalosaurids had massive skulls, serrated teeth, strong short arms with three clawed fingers, and massive legs with three large clawed toes and a tiny backward-directed big toe. The tail was flattened from side to side. Megalosaurus means 'great lizard', and has the honor of being the first dinosaur to be named. Megalosaurus was a large 30ft predator of the late Jurassic period, with a large head, sharp teeth and strong legs. Its remains have been found in Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America.
