1. Mammals of the tundra and arctic have small ears. This helps to prevent body heat from escaping into the air.
2. Polar bear fur is hollow like a straw. This helps to keep the animal warm and also makes it more buoyant for swimming.
3. The fur of a polar bear is white to help it blend in with the ice and snow. This camouflage allows the bear to sneak up on its prey.
4. The polar bear has four paws that are specially equipped for walking on ice. Patches of fur on the bottom of their feet limit slipping and sliding.
5. Polar bears have front feet that are partly webbed to help with swimming. They also house sharp claws for grasping prey.
