COLLECTIONS

Effective September 2003, the museum completed the deaccessioning of its former Botany holdings. Flowering plants, conifers and ferns have been transferred to the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Gardens. Algae, fungi, and mosses will become part of the Botany collections of the University of California, Berkeley.

EXHIBITS

On the second floor a unique exhibit, "Chaparral: A Story of Life from Fire", demonstrates fire's importance in the life cycle of chaparral through a multimedia presentation that surrounds the visitor with the sights, sounds and even the smells of a chaparral ecosystem.
