River gravels in Myanmar (formerly Burma) have yielded fine rubies for centuries. This crystal, considered one of the world's best, was found in the marble rock that is the source of Myanmar's rubies.
Size: 5 cm tall (196 carats)
Acquired: 1978 donation from Col. Frederick C. Hixon.
