BERYL, variety Morganite Be3Al2Si6O18 Anjanabonoina mine, Antsirabe, Madagascar
Morganite, the orange to pink variety of beryl, was first discovered in Southern California in the early 1900s and was named for financeer J. Pierpont Morgan. The Anjanabonoina mine in Madagascar is famous for producing morganite gems of the finest deep pink color.
