Well-formed crystals of peridot are very rare. They form by recrystallization of material that originated many miles beneath the earth's surface within the mantle. This is the largest known gem-quality crystal of peridot.

Size: 15 cm tall

Acquired: 1997 donation from Melvin S. Hindin.
