Tanzanite, the purple to blue gem varirty of zoisite, was only first discovered in 1967. This fine, well-formed, gem-quality crystal is from the early years of production.

Acquired: 1974 donation from Mr. and Mrs. E. Hadley Stuart, Jr.

Disposition: On display in the Gem Crystal exhibit.
