Xenotime is widely distributed as very small crystals in igneous rocks such as granite. Larger crystals can occasionally be found in pegmatites (very coarse-grained igneous rocks). This specimen from a pegmatite is about as large and fine as xenotime gets.

Size: 4.2 cm tall

Acquired: 1989 purchase, Chromy Fund.
