Specimen location: Niobrara Chalk of Northwestern Kansas
Crinoids are Echinoderms, a group of marine animals that also includes sea stars and sea urchins. These creatures lived on the sea ßoor and first appeared nearly 530 million years ago. Although this fossil crinoid lived 85 million years ago, other species still exist today.
