Charles Phoenix Retro Holiday Show

The Charles Phoenix Retro Holiday Show is a live comedy performance that roasts and toasts classic and kitschy life and style of all holidays - New Year’s, Easter, Fourth of July, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and more!

Charles supercharges the classic living room slide show into a laugh out loud celebration as he lavishes the very best of his mid-century holiday slide collection with his quick-witted commentary and keen eye for oddball detail.Charles also shares his festive food crafting creations, frolicking adventures in search of local landmarks and wacky audience repartee. Be prepared for your holiday spirit to skyrocket! Festive holiday-themed fashions are encouraged but not expected.

Bring the Museum Home this Holiday Season – Shop NHM

Get holiday gifts for the naturalist, the science geek or the Los Angeles aficionado on your list. One-of-a-kind gifts from NHM and the Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits are available at each museum's store and online.

Unique gifts, from elegant hand-crafted jewelry, educationa books, toys to eco-friendly products are available for every budget.  Every purchase helps support the Family of Museums' research, education, and public programsm and most of the products are linked directly to either curators' work or exhibits inside NHM and the Page Museum.  There are family-friendly books by our curatorial staff on sale, for example, and plush toys that mirror the mammals on our dioramas and galleries.

You can also give the gift of membership, which means free admission to all three museums in the Natural History Family, and express entry to events like FIRST FRIDAYS, lectures and Junior Scientist classes.  Museum members also enjoy the benefit of a 10% discount on all store purchases.

Junior Scientist and Critter Club

A Day in the Life of Dinosaurs is December's Junior Scientist topic. How did dinosaurs spend their days and how do we know? Become a member of the Junior Dinosaur Institute and come discover for yourself how dinosaurs moved, behaved and lived, piecing together the clues from over 65 million years ago.

Saturday, December 15, 10:30 am and 1:30 pm

Junior Scientist is for 6-9 year olds and their families.  No reservations are required; check-in at the Dueling Dinosaurs in the Museum's Grand Foyer at the Dueling Dinos on the day of event for a free entry ticket.

December's Critter Club presents Cold Weather Quest.  Birds fly south for the winter, but what do turtles do? Help us find winter habitats for our animal friends. 

 Saturday, December 15, 10 and 11 am

Critter Club is for 3 to 5-year-olds and a participating adult.  Events are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Check-in at the Grand Foyer at the Dueling Dinos. No reservations required, but tickets are very limited, so arrive early!

Both events are FREE with paid Museum admission or membership.
