Reptile and Amphibian Appreciation Day

Sunday, October 9, 2011; 9:30 am-5 pm

The Natural History Museum’s 3rd annual Reptile and Amphibian Appreciation Day will have more fun science activities, chances to learn from reptile and amphibian specialists, and the opportunity to meet live animals from around the world and our own backyards.

We guarantee you’ll become a fan of all that is scaly or slimy!

 

Special Guests

Sean P. Bush, MD, FACEP
Venom ER
Dr. Bush is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Southern California, where he is also on staff in the ER as an emergency physician and envenomation (venomous animal) specialist. He has had a lifelong interest in reptiles and venomous creatures. Dr. Bush has authored over 50 publications on the treatment of bites and stings and has lectured on the local, national, and international level. He has been featured in dozens of television documentary productions on several cable networks including Animal Planet, the Discovery Channel, National Geographic Television, PBS, and others.

Dr. Espinoza, your friendly-neighborhood herpetologist will be on hand all day to answer all of your slimy and scaly questions. Go ahead, Quiz him! He likes it.

Jim Brockett 
Brockett's Film and Fauna
Jim will be bringing the stuff of your scaly, venomous dreams; cobras, vipers and monitors, oh my!

Tracy Brehm-Alden
She'll have all of our native rattlesnakes waiting to meet you!

U.S. Geological Survey, U.S. Fish and Wildlife, many local "herp clubs" and more!

All Day: Fun science activities, chances to learn from reptile and amphibian specialists, and the opportunity to meet live animals from around the world and our own backyards.

12 pm “Café Serpent” : An all-Ages Snake-feeding Demonstration
