NATURE MAPPING! Help us map L.A.’s nature by using your smartphone. Stop by our Citizen Science table to learn how you can get involved in local projects.
DRINKS! Sip on a botanical inspired cocktail as you wander through the Nature Gardens.
FOOD! Bring a picnic or grab a bite from one of the food trucks in the North Plaza.
PERFORMANCES! Butterfly stilt performers at 7 pm and 8:30 pm and don’t miss the enchanting Toy Theater show at 8 pm!
WORM COMPOSTING! Worm composting cuts down on waste in the garbage can, plus you get the added benefit of producing a nutrient rich compost for your garden and houseplants. And guess what! You can setup a worm bin ANYWHERE, even in an apartment. Urban homesteading experts Erik Knutzen and Kelly Coyne are here to teach you the benefits and basics of worm composting. They’ll explain what goes in, what doesn’t, and how to maintain it.
HERBS & POTPOURRI! What’s better than cooking with fresh herbs or having fragrant flowers in your home? Nothing. That’s why we want you to make your own bundle of herbs or fragrant clippings and take a piece of NHM’s Nature Gardens home with you.
