Under The HeArt Project’s 2009-10 program theme, Backyards & Front Porches, students in 25 alternative high schools explored ideas of public/private space and urban/suburban transitions through photography, journalism, urban planning, and conceptual art, and questioned the role of these spaces in their own lives.
On Thursday, December 3, 2009, seven HeArt Project schools shared the results of their project in a public presentation and art exhibition at the Natural History Museum. On that day, students enjoyed a facilitated "Dinosaur Encounters," toured the Museum, shared their artwork with the public, and engaged in a multi-school panel discussion about the project.
Additional schools returned to the Museum on March 25, 2010 and June 10, 2010.
