Rose Parade Float
FLOAT LIKE A DINOSAUR!
For the first time in history, NHM will have a float in one of the most famous parades in the world! The Museum masterpiece entitled "Dinosaurs in L.A.'s Backyard" will dazzle its way down Colorado Blvd on January 2, 2012. The float design features a replica of the Museum's original building that will celebrate its 100th Anniversary in 2013 and is fronted by three life-size stars from the new Dinosaur Hall. Triceratops, Thomas the T. rex and Mamenchisaurus are loose on the lawn in front of the 1913 Building and are headed for the city's rose garden!
WHAT'S ON THOMAS' HEAD?
Thomas' head will be covered in green brussel sprouts, dark green galyx leaves, lime green romanesco, parsley flakes and whole split peas. Other plants and flowers being used to decorate the lush landscape are artichokes, Spanish moss, white kale cabbage, lotus pods, Mexican papaya and of course, roses! Rose bushes and plants with lively names like "green sexy rexy" and "green lava flow" will be featured.
