Current research in Ichthyology focuses on the systematics and evolution of acanthomorph fishes, including morphological and molecular phylogenetics, species identification and delimitation, and analyses of character evolution and diversification. Research topics also include taxonomy and larval biology of native California freshwater fishes and management of vertebrate collections and databases.
