Vertebrate Paleontology Research

Current Research by the Vertebrate Paleontology Department staff is focused on the systematics of fossil marine mammals, other marine vertebrates, fossil carnivores, and the late Pleistocene of the Los Angeles Basin. Associates of the Vertebrate Paleontology Department, utilizing our collections, research a great many topics including the vertebrate fossil history of the Amazon basin, the systematics of fossil sea birds and billfish, the geology and paleontology of the Pacific Northwest, and Cenozoic fossil vertebrates of Nevada.
