BOOKING AN ALL-NIGHTER

The mission of the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County as well as the La Brea Tar Pits and Museum is to inspire wonder, discovery and responsibility for our natural and cultural worlds.
 
Experience the Museum like you’ve never seen it before - when the visitors have left for the day, YOU can come out and play!  The ultimate adventure awaits in this unique opportunity filled with fun programming and informational presentations celebrating our collections after dark.  A craft beer and wine and munchie bar is included with ticket price.

What Time is the Event:  Check-in begins at 6:30 pm and closes at 8:00 pm.  No entry will be permitted after 8:00 pm.
Lights Out is 12:30 am 
Lights On is 7:00 am.  All belongings must be cleared from the Museum by 9:00 am. Admission to the Museum is free the morning after your All-Nighter and guests are encouraged to explore all its wonders during the light of day when we open at 9:30 am.
 
What to Bring:
Sleeping bag, pillow, and sleeping pad
Air Mattresses are permitted, though access to outlets is regulated by the Museum and guests are responsible for providing their own pumps.
Pajamas and Toiletries
Please note restrooms are limited: Expect to share sink space.

Where to Park: Parking is located in the Museum’s Car Park, near the corner of Exposition Boulevard and Bill Robertson Lane.  Click here for more a map and information.
 
Where to Sleep: Guests will sleep in either our African or North American Mammal Hall, featuring remarkable habitat dioramas recreating the natural environments in which these animals were found at the beginning of the twentieth century. An upgraded sleeping experience in our spectacular specimen-rich Dinosaur Hall is also available for an additional fee and can be purchased at time of booking. Early arrival is recommended for guests wishing to secure a specific location within these halls, and layers are encouraged as the Museum can be chilly at night.
 
Where to Eat:  Guests should eat before arriving at the event. Due to the sensitivity of our collections, no outside food or drink is permitted in the Museum.  Guests with food allergies or dietary restrictions should contact allnighters@nhm.org before booking with us. The NHMLA Grill opens at 9:30 am the morning following your All-Nighter.

Early arrival is recommended for guests wishing to secure a specific location within the venue, and layers are encouraged as the Museum can be chilly at night.

BOOKING POLICIES AND ALL-NIGHTERS  RULES

 
Booking Policies
 
Participants must be 21 years or older to register.
 
4 weeks’ notice is required to book, though a longer lead-time is strongly recommended. Registration will close 2 weeks prior to the All-Nighter date. Reservations are required; no walk-ins will be admitted.
 
Tickets are non-refundable and non-transferable.
 
Executed Consent Forms are due at the time of online booking for individuals and two weeks prior to the event date for group bookings. Guests may be denied admission to the event without an Executed Consent Form.
 
Sleeping arrangements are assigned by the Museum based on the capacities of the event venue.  A request to sleep together may be made at time of booking, but fulfillment is not guaranteed. 

All-Nighters Rules
 
Check-in begins at 6:30 pm and closes at 8:00 pm.  No entry to the event will be permitted after 8:00 pm.
 
For the safety of all guests, no exit from the Museum will be permitted after 8:00 pm, until 7 am the morning following the All-Nighter. Exceptions should be requested to the Special Events’ Staff and if granted, a security escort will be arranged.
 
All belongings must be removed from the Museum by 9:00 am the morning following the All-Nighter.
 
Drinking must be done responsibly. Anyone found to be acting irresponsibly in a way that disturbs or endangers our guests and our collections will be asked to leave immediately and will not receive a refund.
 
Due to the sensitivity of our collections, no outside food or drink is permitted inside the Museum. Water bottles are permitted, but may only be consumed in designated approved areas. For any dietary requirements or restrictions, please contact allnighters@nhm.org before booking.
 
Drugs are not permitted. Anyone found to be in possession of or under the influence of these substances will be asked to leave immediately and will not receive a refund.
 
No smoking is allowed anywhere on property. Anyone found to be smoking will be asked to leave immediately and will not receive a refund.
 
Shoes must be worn at all times inside the Museum and may only be removed to sleep.
 
Guests must adhere to all Museum rules. Guests found to be disregarding Museum rules will be asked to leave immediately and will not receive a refund.
 
The Museum’s staff is committed to making the evening a fun experience for everyone. Please help us maintain a safe environment for guests and our collections by picking up after yourself, respecting the rules of the Museum, and using common courtesy while you enjoy your night at the museum.
