Museum Educators Can Help

Besides helping teachers and chaperones that meet State Standards and providing activities and lesson plans online, there are other components at the Museum that make a field trip extraordinary.

Our team of smart, engaging Educators and Gallery Interpreters give live animal presentations and gallery tours, and host story times every day.

Our docents are on the floor Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings with interactive activities and presentations. Their programs are approximately 15 minutes in length and run repeatedly between 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, subject to availability. Their "Highlights Tours" give students an introduction to the Museum and its contents. They're approximately 30 minutes in length and are offered between 9:30 am - 10:15 am, subject to availability.

The Museum Can Come to You!

This is the coolest classroom in the city! Our mobile education programs — the Earthmobile, Skymobile, and Seamobile — are unique classrooms, situated in modified tractor-trailers that simulate science research environments. These programs are FREE and available to Los Angeles Unified School District elementary and middle schools, thanks to the generosity of The Maxwell H. Gluck Foundation. Scheduling is based on a district-wide waiting list. Learn more >

School Groups Are Free!

School groups are welcome throughout the year, and groups that schedule their reservations at least three weeks in advance receive free admission. Groups with 10 or more students, grades Pre K - 12, from public schools, private schools, home schools, Head Start programs, and child development centers are considered to be school groups. To learn more and book >
